Although these are not the best pictures I LOVED this party! Partly because I absolutely adore the Toy Story movies. The table was so fun to decorate. I used green army men as "confetti" and made Etch a Sketch place mats. The big party activity was searching for Mr. and Mrs. Potato head, who Zurg had captured, but the highlight (for me) was dad dressed as Zurg :)

Diaper Cakes!
I love using a diaper cake as a centerpiece for a baby shower. Not only are they decorative but so useful for the parents to be. Basically the "cake" consists of diapers wrapped in ribbon. It can be left this way or decorated with useful baby items. I always like to add a plush animal as a topper - it's a whimsical way to finish off the cake. Here are some examples of cakes I have made. In another post I will detail how I make them.

Barbie's Beauty Salon
As I am approaching my daughter Bridget's 7th birthday I can't help but think back to her 6th birthday party. Unlike her mommy this little girl loves barbies and came up with the idea for a "Barbie's Beauty Salon" theme. It could not have been more pink or more fun. I loved watching the girls squeal while getting chocolate facials and admire themselves in the mirror after having all of the treatments. The birthday girl matched the party decor with a pink cast, almost as bright as her smile that day.

Camp Charlie!
We spent the past weekend preparing and hosting my son Charlie's 5th birthday party. With a camping theme inspired by making s'mores in Maine, we created a fun filled party that took our little campers out into the woods for a few hours. Charlie had lots of input into what he wanted to do at his party. His favorite activity was the bear hunt, lead by his own papa bear. My favorite was watching them "roast" marshmallows over a faux fire and, of course, knowing what a special day it had been for my little man.
